This passive piezo buzzer works based on piezoelectric effect. When square-wave electrical signal is applied to the internal ceramic wafer, the piezo element deforms and vibrates rapidly to generate audible sound. Different from active buzzers, this model does NOT contain built-in oscillation circuit, it needs external MCU square wave signal to drive sound. No copper coil inside, which eliminates electromagnetic interference to nearby sensitive electronic components. Slim plastic housing makes it suitable for thin-profile device design.
This 4000Hz piezo ceramic buzzer is used for audio reminder and alarm signals in many electronic products:
Smart water / electric energy meters
Household kitchen appliances & control panels
Portable handheld electronic equipment
Medical auxiliary detection devices
Security alarm modules & IoT sensors

Q: Is this piezo buzzer active or passive? A: TAT-BP1440-40 is passive piezo ceramic buzzer. It does not come with built-in oscillating circuit. An external square wave signal from MCU is required to drive sound output.
Q: What drive signal does this buzzer need? A: It works with square wave signal. The recommended driving signal is 4KHz, 50% duty cycle, 5Vp-p, within voltage range 1~25Vp-p.
Q: What is the difference between piezo buzzer and electromagnetic buzzer? A: Piezo buzzer uses piezo ceramic vibration, ultra-low current and low EMI. Electromagnetic buzzer relies on coil and metal diaphragm, normally higher current. Piezo is more suitable for battery-powered and anti-interference sensitive circuits.
Q: Can I get samples for testing? A: Yes, sample service is available. You can order sample units to verify acoustic performance and PCB compatibility for your prototype project.
Q: Does this piezo buzzer comply with RoHS? A: Yes, this model is RoHS compliant, certificate documents can be supplied on request.
Q: Can we customize the acoustic parameters for bulk orders? A: Customization is supported. Our factory can tune resonant frequency and sound pressure to match your project specifications.
